So, what'd I learn about Chicago? They're museums are museumier, they're ghettos are ghettoier, their tall buildings are taller, their fit people are fitter, their smokers are smokier, and their blue peopler are bluier. Our zoo is better than their though.
Bus Ride there:
Nothing special. It didn't feel like it was that long, except when Alexx was sleeping on me. Then I was stuck in between her and the window, which was NOT fun. At the rest stops we were stuck with fast food, but we got to walk around so I can't complain.
Museum of Science and Industry:We only got lost once! :) We saw this toymaker thing, a genetics, thing, an evolution thing, and this really scary cow exhibit that we just slowly walked away from. We ate lunch there, which was kind of suckish. The pizza lacked sauce. Then we talked to Kate back at home. I bought a snow-blobe that says Chicago.
John Hancock Observatory:
SO COOL. I swear, I wanna go back there. We were above the clouds. They gave us too much time there, though. So I called home while Alexx and I layed on the floor. Alexx bought a shirt that says John Hancock Observatory on it.
Navy Pier:Also really fun. I had my first deep dish pizza there! Then Shawn and Prahbprete came and begged us to go on the Ferris Wheel with them (I guess you need 4 people) which was really fun. We got really hyper though.. Then we went on the chairswings, which is when my camera died. Those were extreme and hardcore. Also, quite tubular and gnarly. In modern times, they may be described as raw or awesome. We didn't get enough time there, though, because we had to leave after that.
Hotel 1st Night:
I showered first, then Alexx. Then we discovered the HEAT LAMP!! So, we made a sauna by running hot water and leaving the heat lamp on. It was like really hot and steamy. [: So Alexx, Leanna and I played a bunch of games in the bathroom while Natalie was sleeping. She was like the only one who got enough sleep. We fell asleep around 3 and woke up at 7.
Breakfast:
They forgot to come get our room at breakfast. (We aren't allowed to open our hotel doors..) but once we called them Mrs. Syndella came and rescued us. I had scrambled eggs and jelly toast, but I got really impatient with the toaster so it was more like jelly bread.
Field Museum:
I SAW SUE!! Other than that, it was really boring. We got really lost in the Ancient Americas exhibit and started asking randoming people "How the heck do we get out of here?". We ended up in the gift shop (??) and I bought a monkey for my collection and named it Sue. Then we met up with the family at McDonalds, ate, and then sat in the main lobby for the last half hour, which was surprisingly fun.
Architecure Cruise:I think I was the only one actually listening to the tour guide. :) He told us all about the history of the river and all the buildings around it. He kept bragging about how polluted it is, but THEIR river never caught on fire. HAHAHA. Alexx dropped her dinosaur in the river, so she stole Josh's. Correction: She made him give it to her
Lincoln Park Zoo:
I started getting really cranky because my head was hurting really bad, and I started feeling sick. So I got ice cream which helped for a bit, but then it got worse. Anyway, I walked with Leanna, Natalie, and Tyler at the beginning, then with Shawn and Prahbprete in the middle, and met up with Alexx at the end. I bought an Eric Carl book for Hazel, but don't tell her yet because she can't have it until later. [:
ESPN Zone:
I was REALLY cranky and needed to eat, and I was waiting to eat here because they said to. So I was really mad when they didn't have any vegetarian food except salad. It was okay except they covered it in mystery cheese. Then the advil and tylenol (are you supposed to take those two together?) started kicking in, so I got better for the arcade, which was okay. I kind of switched in between Natalie and Leanna, and Alexx. Played lots of air hockey.
Blue Man Group:
SO AWESOME. We sat in the second row. And I saved some toilet paper from the show! [: It's made from 100% recycled paper. And Alexx got a blue dot from one out in the main lobby. Later on on the bus ride home, I was listening to music and I said "I forgot my toilet paper at the hotel!" and EVERYONE turned to look at me so I think I said it kind of loud. :) After blue man group the cavs won (WOOT!) right as we pulled into the hotel.
Hotel 2nd Night:
We got back at 11:00, and everyone showered. I was last. BOO. We made another sauna but it wasn't as awesome as the first one because I accidentally didn't put the hot water up hot enough. (Those nozzles were confusing.) Then we fell asleep at about 1 and woke up at 6:30.
Breakfast:
Nothing special. But I noticed here that at every single meal I was the last one done. Am I really that slow of an eater?
Shedd Aquarium:
PACKED. Too many people. Not enough time. Not organized at all. The wild reef thing was kind of cool. Alexx and I met up with Shawn and Tyler and then when we tried eating at the cafe but this guy yelled at us for sitting at the table. So we ate on the floor of the hallway. Then we saw the dolphins. I was really proud of myself because I'd already been there before with Maggie :). So when we went to the gift shop I tried finding the same dolphin I got three years ago but they didn't have it. So I got one that KIND OF looked like Siesel (the dolphin from last time) and named it Beanie. I also bought a bookbag and a shirt.
Bus Ride Home:
Seemed too long. I tried sleeping but the people around us were TOO LOUD. Then I started getting really mad at Taylor because she's the kind of over-dramatic sassy girl who gets mad at everyone for everything and we had to sit behind her the whole time. And we were SO SICK of fast food. We made it home though.
I slept 14 hours that night.
